Madhya Pradesh, often called the “Heart of India,” is one of the largest and most historically rich states in the country. Located in central India, the state is known for its forests, tribal communities, ancient temples, wildlife reserves, and cultural diversity. The capital city is Bhopal, while Indore is the largest commercial city.

State Size and Population

Madhya Pradesh is the second-largest state in India by area, covering approximately 308,000 square kilometers. The population is estimated at over 75 million people, making it one of the most populated states in India. Major cities include Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, and Sagar.
