Sharon Writers Forum is Now an Official Auxiliary Organization!

Looking Back at the Journey…

The Sharon Writers Forum was officially established in November 2017, in connection with the Sharon General Convention, with the blessing of the Church Council. The idea emerged from continuous discussions within a WhatsApp group comprising Sharon Church leaders, ministers, and members. Following the suggestions of the participants, the first conference of writers was held in October 2017 at the Sharon Bible College Chapel, Thiruvalla.

Recognizing that any organization requires a solid ethical foundation supported by clear guidelines, the conference unanimously resolved that the first committee should be constituted according to a formal constitution. A temporary committee, under the leadership of Pastor Aneesh Kollamkode (Working Secretary), was appointed to prepare the constitution within one month.

On 14 November 2017, writers gathered at the Sharon Church Hall in Thiruvalla, approved the draft constitution, and accordingly formed the first official committee of the Sharon Writers Forum.

Later that month, during the General Convention, the Writers Forum was formally inaugurated in the Bible College Library Hall with the blessing of the Church Council. The gathering was attended by members of the Executive Council and other church leaders. Pastor Abraham Joseph, General Secretary of the Managing Council, delivered the keynote message, while Pastor John Thomas, the International President, dedicated the Writers Forum in prayer.

From that day until now, the Sharon Writers Forum has faithfully functioned under the constitution of the Sharon Fellowship Church and in accordance with the guidance of the Church Council.

Although only seven years have passed since its inception, the Writers Forum has been privileged to make several meaningful contributions to the Christian community.

One of its notable achievements has been the presentation of seven scholarly papers on contemporary spiritual and ethical issues during the Sharon General Convention. These papers attracted the attention and appreciation of thousands of believers across denominational boundaries.

In 2021, the Forum organized a one-year Christian Journalism Course. Distinguished faculty members, including journalists from Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhumi, served as instructors. Twenty-seven students from various Christian denominations successfully completed the course and received certificates and awards. It is widely acknowledged that, in the history of the Pentecostal movement, no journalism course had previously been conducted with such academic excellence and systematic organization. This stands as a testimony to the Forum’s commitment to quality and excellence.

Another dream project was the publication of a daily devotional book. The vision was to prepare a one-year devotional containing one meditation for each day, with seven meditations each week centered around a major biblical theme. More than forty Bible teachers, pastors, and writers contributed to this project. The resulting devotional, “With Jesus”, became an instant success and sold out rapidly.

Another significant and ongoing initiative is Spandanam (“Heartbeat”), a publication that continues to serve as a living voice to the Pentecostal community. It provides timely updates on important Pentecostal events as well as urgent secular news. The publication also presents biblically grounded perspectives on doctrinal, social, and moral issues. To encourage emerging writers, a dedicated page is always reserved for newcomers and aspiring authors, helping them develop their writing ministry.

During the 2024 General Convention, the Writers Forum published one of its most ambitious works: “The Book of Revelation – A Comprehensive Study.” This monumental volume is the fruit of twenty-five years of research by Brother Bobby Thomas Manjooran (Bahrain). Produced at a cost of nearly one million Indian Rupees, the Forum believes this publication will have a profound spiritual impact on the Christian community.

Finally, another long-cherished dream has become a reality with the launch of the SharonWriters.com website. Developed at a cost exceeding ₹100,000, the website commenced operations during the same month. The entire development cost was generously sponsored by Brother Johnson Oommen, a member of the Writers Forum Executive Committee.

In addition to these initiatives, God has graciously enabled the organization to accomplish many other milestones, including:

• Publishing seven outstanding books.

• Organizing more than three notable literary workshops.

• Honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to literature through awards.

• Encouraging and nurturing writers within the Sharon Church.

• Successfully carrying out numerous literary and ministry-related initiatives.

Today, as the Sharon Writers Forum is officially recognized as an Auxiliary Organization (Daughter Organization) of the Church, we record our heartfelt gratitude and love to the Church Council.

We sincerely thank every committee member who has faithfully served from the very beginning of this ministry, all the ministers and church members of Sharon Fellowship Church who have encouraged and supported us, and the church leadership and Church Council who have continually guided and strengthened us.
